Please be invited to the handover of one of our joint community service projects with the Rotary Club of Nakhon Pathom to promote literacy, reading comprehension and increase vocabulary for the children at Ban Huay Sai Ngam School at 10:30 am on Tuesday, 29 September. As part of our club’s Library for Literacy program, we are going to deliver a new set of 160 storybooks in Thai and English language to augment the school’s library. The books were selected by the academics of Chulalongkorn University to promote literacy, increase vocabulary, and develop reader comprehension. Ban Huay Sai Ngam School educates 157 students with support from the Bright Dawn Foundation, and is located near Nong Phlap village about 40 kilometers west of the Hua Hin city center. “Children’s books are a powerful tool enhancing the brain development of a young child, especially their all-important language skills. Stories not only bring happiness and enjoyment, but also add new words to a child’s vocabulary, help them develop and practice their comprehension, and lay the foundation for them to understand the concept of reading.” (UNICEF Thailand, 2024) Register your name on CR if you plan to attend and be sure to view the map for the location and directions to the school. We hope to see you there as we CREATE LASTING IMPACT in the spirit of Rotary! Dress code: Smart casual with your favorite Rotary shirt |

Please be invited to the official handover of our newly installed solar power project at Ban Khlong Noi Border Patrol Police School in the mountainous region of Pala-U, Hua Hin on 6 October. The school educates 139 students in grades 1 to 6, and our club has a longstanding relationship with the school as we’ve conducted many service projects with them over the years. The school is located about a 75-minute drive from the Hua Hin city center. Join us in the global fight to end polio! Please be invited to our next community service project to recognize World Polio Day and promote child immunization and health within our community, at Nong Phlap Sub-district Health Center from 9:00 – 10:30 am on 19 October. To encourage families and bring smiles to the little ones, our club is going to provide the families with complimentary gift bags including toys, blankets, baby soap, baby bottles, and brochures emphasizing the importance of the polio vaccination. Be sure to register your attendance on our Club Runner website as usual and we hope to see you there to join hands for a healthier, polio-free future. About World Polio Day and Rotary International The eradication of polio is one of Rotary International’s longest standing and most significant efforts. Along with our partners, we have helped immunize more than 2.5 billion children against polio in 122 countries, and have reduced polio cases by 99.9 percent worldwide. In 1985, Rotary launched PolioPlus, the first and largest internationally coordinated private-sector support of a public health initiative, with an initial fundraising target of USD 120 million. Next, Rotary and the World Health Organization launched the Global Polio Eradication Initiative in 1988 when there were an estimated 350,000 cases of polio in 125 countries. World Polio Day is on 24 October every year and Rotary activities are conducted in October to raise awareness of the importance of polio vaccinations to protect every child from this devastating disease, and to celebrate the many parents, professionals and volunteers whose contributions have made polio eradication achievable. |
