Rotarian and Inter Country Service Chair Alan Brown who since March 2020 has been exiled in Melbourne Australia since returning home for a brief visit in March 2020. Due to the harsh lockdowns seen in Australia and many other countries globally, and the difficulties returning to Thailand he has not been able to return to his second home here.  However, his time there has not been idle, in addition to seeing the birth of his first grandchild he has also been interacting with other Rotary Clubs in Victoria Australia.

Alan spent 9 months undertaking zoom meetings with Rotary Club of Cheltenham which is his local club and Sister club of Rotary Club of Royal Hua Hin and Rotary Club of Noble Park – Dingley Victoria in Australia, some face-to-face meetings and fund-raising events when they were allowed to happen, once restrictions were reduced.

The events he has taken part include:
•             30-minute radio broadcast on 96.5 Inner FM chatting about Thailand and the RCRHH
•             Children & Parents Day at Southern Autistic School
•             Operation Signage at Night

In addition to these activities, he has secured funding from Rotary Club of Noble Park Dingley Victoria Australia to the sum of approximately 40,000 Thai Baht that will go towards a contribution for the replacement Jungle Aid vehicle and a further 25,000 Thai Baht from a longtime supporter of Rotary Club of Royal Hua Hin Andrew Madigan.

Let us hope Alan can further fulfill his role as Inter Country Service Chair and reach out to form relationships with other clubs down under.

The set of pictures below enforces the Ethos of Rotary International and shows that even though Covid has had a major impact on how Rotary Clubs operate, it has not stopped Rotarians doing what they do best helping the communities they serve whether locally or globally.
