Five Rotary clubs from around the world collaborated to provide new ultrasound equipment for Singburi Hospital with the official project handover held on 18 April. Ms. Veerawan Chantanasewi, Deputy Governor of Singburi province, presided over the handover ceremony and Dr. Pirun Pitahongnunt, Director of Singburi Hospital, expressed his gratitude to The Rotary Foundation and the participating Rotary clubs for their contributions that covered the purchase of the new technology.
Dr. Pitun stated, “This ultrasound machine is of great benefit to the people of Singburi and neighboring provinces because it is used to care for critically ill patients with severe conditions, both in terms of prevention and treatment, especially for patients who cannot be moved to the X-ray room. It also provides greater convenience and ease of use for the doctors, nurses, and medical personnel, enabling them to provide more efficient care for the patients.”
The ultrasound machine can be used to diagnose a wide range of diseases such as abdominal diseases, heart diseases, obstetrics and gynecology, as well as complex internal organs. The total value of the equipment is THB 1,300,000, and it has been in use at the hospital since 26 September last year. Rotary clubs in Thailand regularly help to keep public hospitals equipped with state-of-the-art medical technology for the health and well-being of the communities that they serve.
