Our Rotarians handed over one of our community service projects to promote education and literacy for the children at Baan Nong Krathing School in Kui Buri sub-district on 9 March. We delivered a set of 160 storybooks in Thai language to augment the school’s library, and 20 Thai-English dictionaries that are used in teacher Ningnong’s English class. The books were selected by the academics of Chulalongkorn University to promote literacy, increase vocabulary, and develop reader comprehension.
Baan Nong Krathing is a government school for 59 children in grades 1 to 8 with eight energetic teachers. Special thanks to our good friends Hans-Dieter and Ingeborg for sponsoring all the new storybooks and dictionaries.

“Children’s books are a powerful tool enhancing the brain development of a young child, especially their all-important language skills. Stories not only bring happiness and enjoyment, but also add new words to a child’s vocabulary, help them develop and practice their comprehension, and lay the foundation for them to understand the concept of reading.” (UNICEF Thailand, 2024)

Helping children to help themselves as we UNITE FOR GOOD in the spirit of Rotary!
