The Board of Directors of the Rotary Club of Royal Hua Hin are pleased to announce the approval of our first Honorary Member Dr Michael Erich Gubser.

Dr Gubser from Switzerland is one of four active managers for the Help4People Foundation which was established to direct help from people for people in need and has many global projects, many of which are in SE Asia. Most of these projects come within the seven core areas of focus for Rotary International.
Since 2019 Dr Gubser and the Help4People Foundation have donated 1,155,640 Thai Baht that has contributed to the completion of the Rotary Education Centre at the Anuban Hua Hin Nongkhon School. One of the conditions of the donations from Michael is that the money is to used for our educational projects.

At the recent birthday of Past President (PP) Paul Grab, Michael purchased a painting painted and donated by Miyoung Grab, donating a further 20,000 Thai Baht to the RCRHH Project fund.

PP Paul who has been instrumental in seeking the help of the Help4People Foundation and a good friend of Michael proposed to the Board of Directors that we make him an Honorary Member of our club. At the Board meeting on Tuesday the board unanimously approved this after ensuring the criteria for becoming an Honorary member were met.

Honorary membership is used to recognise people who have distinguished themselves by meritorious service and embody Rotary ideals, or those considered friends of Rotary for their support of Rotary's causes.

During a thank you meal to Michael, President Phil Lawrence presented Michael with our club banner and formally welcomed him as an Honorary Member of the Rotary Club of Royal Hua Hin. Treasurer Peter Wydler completed the induction of Michael by knocking his glass of red wine over Michael. This is obviously a great Swiss tradition.

Michael went onto say he was honoured by his acceptance as an Honorary member and he will continue to support our club and was interested in the proposed new project Water Safety.
