Rotarians from afar joined together for the official handover of our classroom construction project at Ban Khlong Noi Border Patrol Police School in the mountainous region of Pala-U on 7 January. This is another one of our joint community service projects with our friends of the Rotary Club of Bangkok South and the Rotary Club of Bangkok Harmony.
The school educates 151 students in grades 1 to 6, and we sponsored the expansion of the classroom area to help meet their needs as well as new desks and chairs. Rotarians and friends donated a truckload of second-hand clothes for the local villagers and we sponsored the children’s lunch and ice cream, and special thanks to the Burgess family for donating 100 kilograms of rice for the school.
The school buildings and grounds are well-maintained and the students also take care of an organic fruit and vegetable garden to help supply fresh ingredients for their meals. We look forward to our ongoing multi-club fellowship and further collaboration on service projects with the Magic of Rotary!
The Rotary International theme for the month of January is Vocational Service to encourage Rotarians to use their skills and expertise to help their communities.
