Former Member of the Rotary Club of Royal Hua Hin Janeric Hogane became the latest member of our club to receive his Paul Harris Fellowship Award after donating 1,000 USD to Every Rotarian Every Year (EREY).

Every club member donates 100 USD as part of their annual dues, that goes towards the Rotary Foundation which was established in 1957.

Janeric left our club at the end of June this year because he wants to spend more time in his native country of Sweden, and his work commitments when he is here in Thailand running Cabinet.

Janeric who lives in a small village called Harad in Northern Sweden which has a population of around 500 people and is 50 KM from the artic circle. Harad lies between the towns of Lulea and Jokkmokk.

Harad was made famous by the Tree Hotel which lies under the canopy of the pine forest, and features private rooms, designed by different architects. The hotel welcomes visitors mostly from an international market from Europe, US and Asia including Thailand.

Businesses in the town have also produced small service companies such snow mobile safari, dog sledge, horse riding, village visits and visits to a typical Swedish home with coffee and cakes and many more activities.

Janeric recounted his early life where he was managing Director for a slaughter house of reindeers, bear, moose in his village. Janeric stated this was the most interesting work he had. This changed drastically in April 1986, when the nuclear accident at Chernobyl Power Station happened and through that the business lost just over 80% of the turnover and after 1 year we had to close.

In the mid 90’s Janeric started his furniture business called Cabinet in Hua Hin and over the years has been a sponsor for our annual amateur golf classic.

Janeric was presented his award by President Phil Lawrence and Webmaster Peter Wydler.

The board of Directors and the club wish Janeric every success in the future.
