In rapid response to the extreme flooding at Nan province in northern Thailand, our club member and EMT Rotarian Fay alerted us of the Phetkasem Foundation’s coordinated effort to rescue the stranded families and provide emergency assistance to those whose lives were devastated on 19 August. The Foundation’s headquarters in Hua Hin quickly mobilized their disaster response units at their branch offices in 16 provinces and sent overnight convoys of trucks loaded with survival supplies to their office in Nan.
As usual our club provided humanitarian support to purchase food ingredients and other necessary items to augment Phetkasem’s massive relief effort at the start. In conjunction with government agencies, more teams will continue to travel to the affected areas as needed until the floodwaters have subsided and the situation returns to normalcy.
Immeasurable thanks to all the emergency rescue professionals for their truly heroic efforts while risking their own safety for the safety of others in this tragic situation, and for everyone’s altruistic contributions and empathy as we CREATE LASTING IMPACT to help those less fortunate in our world!
