Like a canine version of Charles Dickens “A Christmas Carol” when Christmas looked bleak for Nid Sirimara who runs the above animal sanctuary that looks after 200 plus dogs and 60 plus cats near the Pranburi dam. Nid explained that the money had run out, animal food had run out and she was using her own money to buy rice and chicken bones to feed the animals.
Her cry for help was received by Rotarian Peter Wydler who using his own funds purchased over 500 kg of dog and puppy food to be delivered to the Animal Sanctuary. Peter helped by his senior elves Hanne Haakansson, Eric Poulsen, Phil Lawrence and Mai Lawrence delivered the food in time for Christmas.

Khun Nid who wanted to become a nun for three months to make in her life and now still lives the life of a nun 12 years later. Khun Nid went onto say that before she went to the temple she did not really like dogs but that has now changed. Over the years the number of dogs and cats she cares for has grown considerably as mentioned earlier she now has over 200 dogs and 60 cats.

Khun Nid told us she has a number of people that makes donations to help support her and that on average she uses 40 Kilograms of food a day and this will increase as the numbers go up this week there have been over 10 pups born with more due to be born soon.

The food delivered on the 14th December will only last for around two weeks therefore more support is required to help Khun Nid continue to look after these

animals that were strays, or when people have died or left Thailand she has taken them in.

Last year the Rotary Club Royal Hua Hin brought the animal sanctuary a generator to enable water to be drawn from the local river when the old generator broke down.  CLICK HERE TO READ THAT STORY.
