President Napa opened our club lunch meeting and gave an update on our club’s in-process and upcoming community service projects as well as our recent activities and schedule of events. She also welcomed District Governor-Elect Björn Falkeblad from the Rotary Club of Järfälla-Kvarnen, District 2355 in Sweden, and visitors Past President Trevor and Gill Powell from the Rotary Club of Green Meadows, District 9930 in New Zealand.
Our member Rotarian Michael gave an informative presentation on The Rotary Foundation (TRF), the mechanism that helps Rotary members to advance world understanding, goodwill, and peace by improving health, providing quality education, improving the environment, and alleviating poverty. As the director of our club’s TRF committee, he discussed the inner-workings of TRF including its current status and the global grant and district grant mechanisms.
Established in 1917 created as an endowment fund of Rotary International, The Rotary Foundation holds a four-star rating—the highest possible score—from Charity Navigator. This top mark recognizes the organization for strong financial health, accountability, transparency, and operational efficiency across 17 consecutive years of evaluation.
Thanks to all of the attendees who supported our fundraising raffle and Rotarian Franjo was the lucky winner of the bottle of wine for the day.
New Friendship Club Agreement
On 9 August our members met with visiting President David and Sophie Edouart of the Rotary Club of Marcq-en-Baroeul, District 1670 in France, and entered into a Friendship Club Agreement to establish a partnership to further international understanding and foster goodwill through long-standing fellowship and community service.
With the motto of Service Above Self, Rotarians regularly conduct high-impact service projects in multiple sectors of society; public, private, social, and environmental preservation for sustainable development.
