Today we had the pleasure of welcoming our special guest speaker Reverend Nicolaj Stubbe Hørlyck and a lot of Danish friends to our club lunch meeting. Our Sergeant-At-Arms Past President Paul introduced the guests and President Brian gave an overview of our upcoming community service projects and events for the remainder of this Rotary year.
Our Service Projects Chair Past President Napa spoke about our next Children’s Water Safety & Drowning Prevention trainings to be held on 21-23 May and 28-30 May, as well as the handover of 34 sets of earphones for students to use in our Rotary Education Center (REC) at Nong Khon School on 19 May.  Opened in 2020, we sponsored the building construction and furnishings of the REC as well as 34 new computers and other state-of-the-art equipment to promote technology-enhanced learning at the school.
Reverend Nicolaj gave a very interesting presentation about his career as a Danish priest providing support for those in need in developing countries as well as his most recent post leading the Danish Church in Bangkok. His primary focus of late is assisting and counseling Danes who are residing in Thailand, and his international mission has been a personal journey of faith, adaptability, and cross-cultural connection. Reverend Nicolaj drew the lucky raffle ticket and Rotarian Bo won the bottle of wine for the day.
