President Napa started our club lunch meeting by welcoming our guest presenter Dr. Sarat Tiangwan from Hua Hin Hospital as well as Rotarian John from the Rotary Club of Bangkok and guests. She continued with a discussion about our club having recently received the “Club Excellence Award” for Rotary Year 121 from Rotary International President Francesco Arezzo (2025-2026), recognizing our ongoing commitment to community service and improving the lives of the underprivileged and disadvantaged in our world. Napa also gave an update on our club’s recently completed service projects such as the new security wall construction and solar power system for Ban Khlong Noi Border Patrol Police School, and our financial support for the flooding relief effort underway for the affected families in Nan province.
Rotarian Peter gave an overview of our primary sponsorship of the “Participatory Forest Restoration Project” at Kaeng Krachan National Park on 16 August, which he reminded was a collaboration with the Forest Restoration Foundation, state agencies and local stakeholder groups. Over 350 volunteers participated in the planting of 4,000 tree seedlings of 12 indigenous species on 20 rai of vacant land in the wet season to ensure survivability. At the heart of the project is a simple but powerful idea; “Restoring Forest, Building an Ecosystem” with broad community engagement and inclusion.
Dr. Sarat delivered an excellent presentation on the hospital’s broad range of medical services with a focus on orthopedic surgery. He also went in depth on the specialized equipment used to perform corrective surgery, particularly devices designed to effectively reconnect broken bones resulting from road accidents. They regularly receive many referral patients from other hospitals as well.
Relied upon for their professional expertise and availability of superior medical technology and treatments, Hua Hin Hospital is the premier destination for 24-hour medical support and patients come from as far as Ranong province in the south to Kanchanaburi province further north, as well as Bangkok. Hua Hin Hospital has been our club’s corporate member since 2024.
Thanks to all of the attendees who supported our fundraising raffle and Rotarian Morten was the lucky winner of the bottle of wine for the day.
From abroad, our member Rotarian David and Shubh attended meetings at the longstanding Louisa County Rotary Club in Virginia, USA twice this month successfully building relationships between our clubs. One of those meetings welcomed their District 7610 Governor Peter C. Anderson for his annual visit.
Now in our 17th year, the Rotary Club of Royal Hua Hin received official charter from Rotary International on 12 April 2010.
