Following the visit by The Rotary Club of Royal Hua Hin to Nonkhon School earlier in the year to formally handover the new playground that they have supported and paid to have completely redeveloped, members re-attended again in November to hand over a supply of books to fully stock the Monkey Library
Following a visit to the school earlier this year by the then President of RCRHH, Birger Rexed and Project Co-Ordinator Napa Keawtem, it was decided to help improve the facility for the good of the students with a brain based learning playground and a ‘Monkey Library’.There is strong research that supports the connection between brain development and children having the opportunity to participate in recess during their school day. One example is how children develop their fine and gross motor skills as well as their dexterity and balance all through exploring and risk-taking and having fun on the playground. Games using balls help children develop anticipation and prediction skills. Figuring out which way will the ball roll or bounce relies on a child having many experiences with different shaped, sized and textured balls.
Children have to climb up to the library and once there have the opportunity to read all the books now available.
President of RCRHH Brian Anderson said “Another great way of helping the local community and particularly the children whose futures are so important. Anything that can assist their development and life skills are vital”.
