Our 9 April club lunch meeting was extra special with a presentation of the inner workings of our Annual Charity Golf Tournament Organizing Committee and the world of major event planning and fundraising. President Brian opened the meeting with an overview of the Rotary Four-Way Test, the Rotarian Code of Conduct and recent and upcoming events. We also inducted our 66th member Paul, a lawyer by profession in England, who spoke about his past career experience and his life in Hua Hin.
Vice-President Michel, the chair of our fundraising committee, gave an introduction of the golf committee with Rotarian David going into detail about the planning and success of this Rotary Year’s golf tournament, as well as the long history of our past tournaments. This was our 13th annual tournament and also our primary fundraising event of every year attracting generous sponsor donations for our community service projects since our club’s inception in 2010. David presented all of the volunteers and also discussed the spirit of collaboration, passion and achievement and encouraged all members to take part in various committees to help carry out the events and projects in our club. Well done as usual to all of our contributors!
Rotarian Arnold was presented with a certificate of appreciation for sponsoring the barley-malt beverages provided at the tournament, and special thanks were given to all golf committee members who will soon begin planning our 14th annual golf tournament scheduled for 29 November. Past President Jimmy provided traditional Thai desserts for the meeting attendees and Immediate Past President Phil won the bottle of wine for the day.
